What to expect...

At The Healing Place, it is understood a great deal of courage is required to seek outside help.  The following information is to help you understand what to expect.

Counseling approach

Research has shown that self-growth and change will occur when a trusting therapeutic relationship is established. The counselor's role is to help you discover and utilize the resources and strengths that will help empower you to create positive and meaningful change in your life.

Challenges

Counseling is a collaborative process that will take hard work, energy, and courage. At times this process may feel uncomfortable due to the nature of making important change in your life and/or discussing personal accounts. The counseling process is a journey that will take you to new heights, much like what you would experience when climbing a mountain, this takes endurance, new skills, and most importantly, motivation.

Rights and Confidentiality

Everything stated or written in our counseling relationship is completely confidential. As a professional counselor and member of the ACA (American Counseling Association) a strict code of ethics guide the counseling process in regards to confidentiality and professional standards. Confidentiality will only be broken under the following circumstances:

If you become a danger to yourself or others

I receive written permission from you allowing me to disclose information

If abuse of a child or elderly person is a concern

In the case of a medical emergency
